Sorry this post is late everyone!! It's been such a busy couple of days I've just got home from a friends scratch performance, I've just sat down and started to write! So please bare with! (Continued) Ambers first evening was really chilled and we both stumbled upon a lovely Italian Restaurant, Harby's Bar + Diner! In the previous post I explained how lovely the atmosphere was in the restaurant and the food was just spot on! Afterwards we had a good catch up on the beach and then set off home! We watched a bit of Friends and had a good rest to start the day! We were both tired as hell as we're hard working ladies! And we got up just after 9:30-10ish. We had a morning catch up and watched some TV then got showered, dressed and make up all ready. The most annoying of situations happened which did put a bummer on the start of the day... We were about to get the bus and Amber looked at her car and realised her tire was FLAT! Literally, like a pancake! Just what you need when you're set out for the day in Brighton! But the thing is, bad things happen, you just need to deal with these things first hand! And thats exactly what she did! After a few phone calls to her husband, Amber and I eventually found a pleasant place in a part of the Laines, Mange Tout! Mange Tout, Brighton BRUNCH WAS AMAZING!! Omg! Amber straight away fell in love with the Salmon Omelette, along with an Espresso. I jumped for the Eggs Royal-but- with SOURDOUGH BREAD omgggg it was seriously unreal, washed down with a Latte. I seriously meant it when I looked at Amber with a mouth full of food, saying "I'm defo tipping these guys!!" The staff were super chilled and checked in on us enough to have a lovely back and forth, plus appreciation for the food! Defo recommend this place! We love a good candid! Honestly after a stressful start to the day, it ended up being comforted by food! Afterwards we walked off our brunch and wondered round the Laines, looked in all the lovely Brighton local shops such as All About Audrey Vintage Boutique, Berts and also the colourful houses around the streets of the North Laines. When time started to fly by, we had to get to Halfords to get a pump and some foam for her flat tire, just in case she had a hole in it and also she could've had it let down, or a slow puncher. We eventually got home and sat with a few cups of tea and chatted away for a few hours, pumped up Amber's tire, then started to get ready and decided to go to a restaurant that we saw on the seafront the day before- JB's Diner. JB's Diner, Brighton Seafront This was a great place with amazing vibes. We were both so tired from the stress of the car and all the walking we had done, so it was really nice to just sit and chill in a booth, with Tom & Jerry playing in the background! We ordered THE BEST milkshakes! The VIPs: Kinder Bueno & Hershley's White Chocolate Cookie! My lorrrrd! They were INCREDIBLE! And there was sooooo much cream hahaaa! Along with this I needed a fizz fresh drink with my meal (bougie lol) so I ordered the Elderflowe Fizz! Elderflower is my most favourite drink in the world! Huge Fan. We ordered a Hot Dog and Southern Fried Chicken Wrap, both served with side salad and skin-on chips (also huge fan). Overall we didn't hugely rate the food, the chips, yes. But I 100% recommend to hop in there for a VIP Milkshake and some fries or a side dish and it's a great atmosphere! After we ate our weight in food, we took a walk along Brighton Pier, had a look in the arcade and stumbled upon a Zaltar Psychic Fortune machine (remember? Like with Tom Hanks in BIG) Realised most of everything was closed, we made our way back to Old Stein and grabbed the bus back to my house. We spent the evening watching The Secret and then ending up not finishing it as I was sooo tired I needed to sleep, plus Amber was driving home the next day so we both needed a good rest. I got up when my boyfriend went to work, fell asleep for a bit longer then got up and checked on Amber's car. The tire was still up from when we pumped it up! That was at about 6pm the evening before so this was good news! I left Amber to sleep and did some life admin, tidied up a bit then woke her up with a cuppa and chatted before she had to get ready to leave. I never get to see Amber unless I'm visiting my parents in Peterborough, so it was so nice to have her in my Brighton environment! Take care my lovely, until next time xxxxxx

So! My best friend Amber is here in Brighton for a couple of days to have a wander round and to see beautiful places this city has. She's only been here once since I've moved here but this is a nice 1-1 tour for her so she's defo seeing more than she ever has! She arrived at 5pm yesterday evening after the worst drive down here- don't get her started, seriously! But eventually she arrived, settled in then we both caught the bus to the sea front (just to let you guys know, Brighton has a lot of one way systems and it is very stressful driving round here so I suggest when you come to visit, use public transport!) Then we had a walk around the seafront trying to really find a place to eat! We ended up finding a lush Bar & Diner called Harby's! They had the most amazing decor and the food and service was great to top it! We chatted away and enjoyed our surroundings, food & company. After we went for a walk and chill on the beach, we literally were there for 2 hours just chatting away, got the bus home and watched Friends before bed! Today! (Wednesday!) We got up quite late but we both needed some sleep! But we are blogging today's adventures around Brighton so stay tuned for the video which will be uploaded to Amber's YouTube channel! (Amber Izzo- You Tube) But mostly today will be exploring the Laines and also going to some lovely coffee shops and delis for some lovely brunch! So stay tuned! I decided last minute to take the weekend off from blogging and just thought I'd check In with you guys!
Today is my darlings birthday and he is 27! Its a beautiful day, we both slept in till 11:45am which we NEEEEEEDED! And at 3pm we're going to Devils Dyke for a yummy roast dinner, depending on how full we are, a nice walk then we're going to grab some bits and bobs from the shop, then chill and watch some films and eat tapas! I think we can all admit that we have guilty pleasures (FOOD) and seem to like lazing around on the sofa, getting the bus rather than walking and having a gym membership that you really don't take advantage of! (ME)
But the gym really is a great place to purge as you get some much out of it! My boyfriend and I are currently having a diet and health spiral where all we do is munch!! So we're being very ruthless and we're actually going to get back in the gym and eat a balanced diet! (We loveeee Mac'n'Cheese!) When I'm eating healthy, I usually cut down on meats and usually just eat chicken or non at all, using Quorn as alternative! I also use protein shakes which are Arbonne approved and usually have:
These products are a part of the Arbonne 30 Days of Healthy Living (See post via Arbonne page!) And this program basically detox's your body! It's not a diet, it's a change in lifestyle! With minimum exercise and veggie, vegan or clean meat with loads of snacks that replace the overloaded sugars and chemicals with healthy ingredients. Arbonne's 30 helps get rid of bloating, revive your system, helps with your digestion and vitamin & mineral intake and to also make you feel amazing! With continuing with a positive mindset, I'm trying to find the boost to get back into a routine with the gym! But with having full time shift work it does really take you out of a standard routine. Its all self discipline! I have an absolute love for plants- indoor or outdoor! My grandparents have always shown their love of gardening to me and just talked at me (with all the education they knew) to having the best garden. After my grandad passed away it's like he channels me when I feel lost or bored and I just end up gardening, repotting or pruning! It is an amazing therapy and people think gardening its expensive when it really isn't! The best places to get indoor and outdoor plants:
I advise anyone who gets lost and wants a hobby to get involved with gardening! Its a lovely hobby and skill to do/have and also gives you amazing positivity as you're looking after and nurturing something and watching it grow into something beautiful! And theres more to come!!
xx Hi, how are ya?
I'm Amy. I'm British and also half Caribbean and live in Brighton, East Sussex. Living originally in Peterborough, I moved to Cornwall for University in Falmouth and fell in love with living by the sea. As it was 6 hours away from home, in post-graduate year I decided to move to Brighton- not too far eh? Living in Cornwall, I studied Theatre Arts. Through the three years I was there, I learnt more than I could ever imagine! I learnt how to create my own theatre from one simple movement or monologue, I learnt how to Direct, Design, Collaborate, gain Friendship and Trust for life. It was an amazing experience. I also trained for 3 months as a beginner with 1st year Dancers, and Jesus! What an experience those 3 months were! I learnt more about myself then I ever thought I did- I was realigned: Mind, Body and Soul, reconnected. This became the title of my dissertation which I worked on all of 3rd Year! (SO Holla at any Uni students reading this, 3rd is YOUR time to shine and find the one thing you love to talk about! TAKE.ADVANTAGE!!) After uni I did witness Post-Grad Depression and that was awful (If you guys haven't seen The Graduate, do, you'll understand how you're feeling through the eyes of Dustin Hoffman (but if you HAVE seen it, obvs not having affair and blah blah without giving spoilers LOL!) But yes I witnessed a fair few couple of down days. I went back to live with my parents and that was hard. Once you've flown the nest, its hard to come back and fit back into that lifestyle. I gave it nearly a year and luckily got a room with two friends from uni (they were Dancers-very talented individuals) and they introduced me to the colourful and creative world of Brighton. I worked for a year in Telemarketing and now I'm a support worker for people with Autism. Throughout these jobs I've met some amazing people and been on great journeys with them, some have moved on some have stayed but the friendships are amazing. Since working with people with Autism, I've wanted to get into Art Therapy (That was the topic of my dissertation) but other things have come up in my life to which I didn't think would happen! I started modelling, collaborated with some amazing people and businesses, I became an Arbonne Consultant and have continued to connect with people and it makes you feel so safe just having that one connection- a smile, giving someone a cigarette, bumping into someone and knocking their bags out the way... These things happen, but TAKE that connection from the other person, because you have NO IDEA what might lead to that connection in the future! I wouldn't say I'm religious (I was Christened as a baby...) but I am a HUGE believer of Faith. I'm a Sagittarius and love the laws of the universe. I rarely but do try to practice in meditation but its slowly but surely is becoming a part of my weekly routine. I LOVE smudging- its an amazing emotional and spiritual way of moving forward with negative vibes. So yeah, slightly Spiritual! I believe in the Law of Attraction and how positivity really is KEY! "Thoughts become things"(The Secret) Seriously, your wishes are at your command so put it out to the Universe and the Universe will surely give you it back! I love to communicate with everyone and anyone. I like to be educated by peoples views to actually broaden my mind from ignorance-so if you want to start a convo, holla at your girl! |
